CHRISSY CAMERON ARAD
CBA Director
Chrissy is a registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (London).
Chrissy began her RAD Ballet training in Auckland and accepted into the New Zealand School of Dance (Wellington), graduating with the Diploma in Dance Performance, encompassing both Classical and Contemporary dance. She performed in Wellington on many dance projects and she also created a niche market for herself in both modelling and television work.
Chrissy now has the greatest pleasure teaching young, aspiring dancers and with over 20 years teaching experience she has several past students now making a career of dance here in New Zealand and abroad.
She is proud to teach alongside a dynamic team of expert tutors, who all share her love of Dance.
JILL ARKLEY ARAD
Classical Ballet Tutor
Jill is a registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (London).
Jill began her dance career in Tauranga under the guidance of Nancy Algar-Rowe, Examiner for the RAD. At the age of 16 she was awarded the John Todd Scholarship, which allowed her to study at the New Zealand School of Dance in Wellington for 2 years.
She then returned to Tauranga before moving to Queensland, where she first opened her own dance academy. On returning to New Zealand and moving to Auckland, Jill established the Auckland Academy of Dance where she was the director and a teacher for 28 years.
Jill now enjoys freelancing and has taught at CBA for the past 16 years with Chrissy. She feels very privileged to have a career she is passionate about and loves to see the enjoyment and love of dance instilled in her pupils.
JESSICA OPACIC ARAD
Classical Ballet and Contemporary Tutor
Born in Auckland, Jessica studied RAD Ballet, JDNZ Jazz and BAL Tap until she moved to Melbourne to further her dance education as a full-time student. During these studies, Jessical was offereed a contract with Black Grace Dance Company and joined them for their 2007 Tour of 'Amata', before completing her qualificaiton.
Jess's qualifications include a Diploma in Dance (Performance), Certificate 3 and 4 in fitness and a Diploma in Dance Teaching (Distinction) with the RAD.
Jess has worked extensively with the Australian School of Performing Arts, toured internationally through Europe, America and Hong Kong as a choreographer for the Australian Girls' Choir and with Aboriginal Youth in remote towns in Australia.
Jess is an approachable and committed dancer with a particular love for classical and contemporary ballet and believes the Arts are a vital aspect of education. Her dedication to fostering young dancers has led her to join Meaghan Rowe with a joint vision of providing performance opportunities for young dancers in a collaborative environment through their youth company 'The Classical Collab'. She is delighted to be part of the wonderful nurturing team at Cameron Ballet Academy.
LILY EWING ARAD
Classical Ballet and Contemporary Tutor
Lily began her ballet training at the early age of 3 at the Auckland Academy of Dance, under Jill Arkley, Rosemary Clark, Chrissy Cameron and Carole Speirs. in 2003, she joined Mount Eden Ballet Academy before being accepted into the New Zealand School of Dance for their 3 year intensive classical programme.
At the end of her first year, Lily danced the leading Sylph from an excerpt of 'La Sylphide' for the 40th Anniversary Graduation Season at the State Opera House in Wellington. Prior to commencing her third year of training, Lily was invited to attend a secondment at the National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada, as well as the Intensive Summer Programme at the Houston Ballet School, Houston, Texas.
Throughout her time at the New Zealand School of Dance, Lily was given the opportunity to travel to attend open classes with the Queensland Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, School of American Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet.
Half way through Lily's third year, she was accepted into the professional progamme at Houston Ballet.
On returning home to Auckland, Lily has since been involved in coaching aspiring dancers and preparing them for full time training both in Australia and New Zealand.
Lily is also a qualified Interior Designer, managing residential and commercial projects throughout New Zealand.
